Man… GEICO insurance man. I swear this company lives rent-free in my head like a toxic situationship that somehow still saves you money.
Right now I’m sitting in my messy living room in the US, it’s like 37°F outside, heater is making that weird clicking noise again, and I’m staring at my latest GEICO bill that’s somehow $47 lower than last month even though I added roadside assistance. Wild.
My Super Personal (and Slightly Embarrassing) GEICO Insurance Review GEICO Insurance Review
Look — I switched to GEICO in late 2022 after State Farm decided my 2019 fender bender (yes I was texting my mom about biryani recipes, don’t judge) deserved a 38% rate hike. I was pissed. Googled “cheapest car insurance that doesn’t hate me” at 1:17 a.m. and GEICO popped up.

First quote was stupid low. Like stupid low. I thought it was a glitch.
Took the bait.
The Good Stuff – Real GEICO Pros That Actually Slapped GEICO Insurance Review
- The price is usually insane (in a good way) My current full coverage on a 2018 Civic with one at-fault accident is $137/month. My buddy with the exact same driving record is paying $214 with Progressive. I flex this fact way too often at cookouts.
- The mobile app is actually good Like shockingly good. I filed a glass claim (rock on I-95, classic Maryland experience) at 11:42 p.m. while eating cold pizza in sweatpants. Adjuster texted me back at 7:19 a.m. next day. Chip in the windshield got replaced in 48 hours. I was shook.
- Discounts stack like crazy I’m currently getting: • Military discount (even though I got out in 2018) • Multi-policy (renters + auto) • Good driver (lol barely) • Seatbelt use (yes they track it) • Defensive driving course I took in 2019 (still counts apparently)Together? Almost 42% off base rate. I cried a little when I saw the final number.
Here’s a quick pic of my actual policy discounts page I screenshotted last week (yes I drew hearts around the big ones, no I’m not sorry):

The Stuff That Makes Me Want to Throw My Phone – GEICO Cons GEICO Insurance Review
- Customer service roulette 70% of the time the agents are sweet angels who call me “hun” and fix everything. 30% of the time I get someone who sounds like they actively hate insurance, me, and existence itself.Last summer I called about a premium increase. First agent told me “that’s just the new rate structure sir.” Second agent (same day, different department) gave me $18/month back for the next 6 months because of some safe driver thing I didn’t even know existed. Make it make sense.
- Claims can drag if it’s complicated My friend’s totaled Mustang claim took 5 weeks. Five. Weeks. He was borrowing his mom’s minivan and crying on FaceTime. Not cute.
- Some coverages are low-key expensive Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage on GEICO hit me harder than expected. Almost $22 extra a month. In Maryland it’s kinda necessary though so… whatever.

GEICO Savings Tips (That Actually Worked for My Dumb Ass) GEICO Insurance Review
- Do the defensive driving course even if you think it’s lame I did it online in like 4 hours while half-watching Love Island. Saved $210/year. Worth the cringe.
- Bundle literally everything Renters + auto = instant 12–17% off. I added my laptop and camera gear to renters for like $9 more a month. Discounts > peace of mind.
- Raise your deductible if you’re not broke-broke Went from $500 to $1,000 deductible. Saved $16/month. Haven’t had a claim since 2023 so… winning.
- Pay in full for the 6-month policy if you can swing it One-time 8% discount. Feels like free money.
- Update your mileage every year I went from 18k → 11k miles/year after I started WFH more. Saved another $9/month. Small wins stack up.
Bottom Line – My Final, Very Biased GEICO Insurance Review (January 2026)
GEICO isn’t perfect. Sometimes I wanna fight them. Sometimes I wanna send them a thank-you cake.
But right now, today, with gas prices doing whatever they’re doing and my rent somehow increasing again, GEICO is keeping my car insurance bill under $150/month with decent coverage.

Meh: Studerc Finally Finished His Fucking Thesis Mehrican Exchange …
For this broke-ish millennial in 2026 America? That’s a W.
Would I recommend GEICO? Yeah… but get multiple quotes first. Like always.
And maybe don’t text and drive about biryani recipes. That part still haunts me.
Anyway. You got GEICO? Hate it? Love it? Spill in the comments.
And if you wanna see current rates yourself (they’re usually pretty competitive): → Check GEICO quotes here
Stay safe out there, fam. And pay your damn premium on time. They will find you.
